Tax refund put to work

Home improvement projects have begun. What began as an optimistic month in the savings category has jumped to spending spending spending. Although it's actually money well spent and can be seen as an investment. We've begun the bathroom addition. If all goes well, it could be done by the end of next week. Maybe even sooner. But man, I will be racking up the miles this month as I continue swiping the credit card. It's becoming sickening honestly.

I'll post up some pics when it's all done.

March Networth Update

Well, I'm a bit surprised by the outcome, but I'm definitely happy with it! I thought we'd take a bit of a hit this month, but investments managed to steer up a bit and we were left with a $1300 gain. We're still about 6k short of our best month, but back to two consecutive months ending on a positive note is always a good thing. And also, we haven't received our tax returns yet so that's even better.

And all good things must come to an end... We're putting in a bathroom in the basement and most likely a bar as well. This will set us back a bit so unless the market surges, we'll probably head south again next month. Another big hit is what we'll take when we refinance. We locked it at 4.75% for another 5 year arm, but this time it's not just interest only. So finally we'll be knocking down that principal. I have some lofty goals for the end of the five years and I'm hoping to get there. I plan on at minimum putting in one extra payment a year and hopefully up to two full extra payments. So if by chance we're still there in five years, maybe when we refinance again, with increased pay, no more day care, and less owed, we'll be able to do a 15 year mortgage. We'll see how that effort goes!
